Bacterial Interactions with Aspergillus fumigatus in the Immunocompromised Lung

چکیده

The immunocompromised airways are susceptible to infections caused by a range of pathogens which increases the opportunity for polymicrobial interactions occur. Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus predominant causes pulmonary infection individuals with respiratory disorders such as cystic fibrosis (CF). spore-forming fungus Aspergillus fumigatus, is most frequently isolated P. aeruginosa, co-infection results in poor outcomes patients. It therefore clinically important understand how these interact each other may contribute disease progression so that appropriate therapeutic strategies be developed. Despite its persistence throughout life patient, A. fumigatus rarely becomes dominant pathogen. In vitro interaction studies have revealed remarkable insights into molecular mechanisms drive agonistic antagonistic occur between bacterial aeruginosa. Crucially, demonstrate although bacteria predominate competitive environment, has capacity persist disease.

Osteomyelitis and lung abscess due to Aspergillus fumigatus in a chronic granulomatous disease patient

Background and Purpose: Chronic granulomatous disease (CGD) is an inherited disorder of the nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADPH) oxidase complex. This disorder results in recurrent life-threatening bacterial and fungal infections. Aspergillus species are the most common fungal infections in these patients. Case Report: Herein, we present a case of fungal infection in a girl wi...

Persistence versus Escape: Aspergillus terreus and Aspergillus fumigatus Employ Different Strategies during Interactions with Macrophages

Invasive bronchopulmonary aspergillosis (IBPA) is a life-threatening disease in immunocompromised patients. Although Aspergillus terreus is frequently found in the environment, A. fumigatus is by far the main cause of IBPA. However, once A. terreus establishes infection in the host, disease is as fatal as A. fumigatus infections. Thus, we hypothesized that the initial steps of disease establish...
